AusConnect began its life during the late 80’s credit crunch, by farmers seeking to harness new technology to cut down on the need to travel huge distances to perform routine tasks such as banking and visiting the post office. It was a revolutionary idea, the concept for FARMNET was born and the wheels for AusConnect began turning.
With email being the primary focus in those early days, EEPO (Everybody’s Electronic Post Office) was launched and infrastructure installed at friends’ houses, based on their proximity to telephone exchanges. These email servers were among the first publicly available in Perth and ushered in a new communication method that we couldn’t imagine doing business without today.
Today, AusConnect has learned and evolved from its inception all those years ago. The driving culture of innovation and technical business collaboration still run strong and continue to have relationships with some of our earliest customers.
